Level 123 is the 124th level of the backrooms. It exists as an endless complex of brick hallways illuminated by headache-inducing beige light.
An image of Level 123 taken by an anonymous wanderer depicting one of the many eye-straining hallways.
Description
The hallways that make up Level 123 are composed of large, white-painted bricks and the occasional thick steel door typical of what you would find in an office or school setting in The Frontrooms. Electrical outlets can be found near the floor on some walls of the level, but a negligible number of these outlets actually supply power.
The ceiling in Level 123 is the typical drop ceiling you'd find within a normal commercial building in The Frontrooms, sporting the occasional square-shaped light fixture every few tiles along with non-functional sprinklers and cameras. Above every door found within the level, a red glowing exit sign can be found hanging from the ceiling, though none of these doors usually lead to a true exit from the level.
The floors of Level 123 are made of hard vinyl tile, which is potently glossy and reflective. The color of these tiles appears to be random, ranging from white to dark grey. The features of the walls and ceiling of the level are constantly reflected off the flooring, along with the beige light produced by the lighting fixtures.
At first glance, Level 123 appears to be completely harmless due to its lack of entities. Though, after some time within the level, wanderers may find themselves beginning to develop extremely painful and incessant headaches stemming from the beige lighting emitted by the square fixtures on the ceiling. These headaches, though non-lethal, often cause wanderers to become increasingly disoriented and confused, making traversal very difficult. Oftentimes, these headaches can induce visual and auditory hallucinations, which may cause wanderers to believe entities are actively pursuing them despite the lack thereof.
The steel doors within Level 123 typically lead to additional beige-lit hallways, though the geometry of the level remains Euclidean in nature. Under very rare circumstances, a door within the level may lead to a red-lit, upside-down version of the normal hallways. Entry into the red hallways within Level 123 should be avoided at all costs, as falling through the drop ceiling on the bottom of the room will always lead to a random building within The Red Light District of Level 11. The light present within the red hallways has a similar effect as the beige light normally found within level 123, though the headaches caused by the red light are almost always tremendously more painful than those caused by the beige light. Some doors may lead to empty storage rooms that contain various useful objects, such as Almond Water, Firesalt, and scarcely first aid kits. Furthermore, a smaller amount of doors can lead to the empty offices of Level 4.
Almond Water can sometimes have a slight nullifying effect towards the headaches and hallucinations caused by the beige lighting, though this is usually negligible and should not be relied on in the long term.
Attempts have been made by wanderers and The M.E.G. to block out the beige lights on Level 123, though no efforts have come to fruition, as the light seems to shine through anything used to block the ceiling units. Because of this, long-term dwelling within the level is not advised, and the usage of blind folds or the covering of eyes has absolutely no effect on limiting the amount of light that actually reaches your eyes.
There are currently no known long-term effects that the light within Level 123 has on wanderers.
Bases, Outposts and Communities
No bases, outposts, or communities have been established in Level 123, and any attempts to do so have lead to failure due of the harmful effects of the beige light.
